I have seen many hurting people seeking to understand if there is a way to know God without the patronizing that comes with organized religion. Droves of people have discontinued membership and attendance in such organizations because they feel judged rather than assisted toward success. Yet, even in this new birth, a person still has the same body, desires, and a myriad of potentially intrusive thoughts daily. Although we all have the power to choose which direction we will take as we sojourn through life, we are all called to something higher than simply remaining the same. I believe if the reader gives deep consideration and careful meditation while reading these poems, there will be revelations regarding the personal struggles that have manifested. The battle between the spirit of man and the flesh rages on in perpetuity.
